Berenguer is also a free agent but he won’t be short of offers as Roma, Wolves, Crystal Palace, Brentford and Leicester City are reportedly vying for his signature.

Having fallen below the required threshold in the last 18 months, the Netherlands international has become a free agent.

Atletico wanted Hermoso to sign a new contract on reduced wages, but he rejected the proposal and has now left the club.

The 29-year-old has been linked with Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Napoli, Roma, Juventus, Inter Milan and AC Milan.
