Tottenham agree Serie A move after midfielder finally relents, but Atletico U-turn threatens to derail second deal

Another Tottenham exit is coming after Harry Winks relaxed his demands, though a second exit involving a Premier League club could be torpedoed by Atletico Madrid, per a trusted source.

The bulk of Tottenham’s business between now and the September 1 deadline will revolve around exits. That’s not to say new arrivals are completely off the agenda, however, with signing number nine all but wrapped up on Friday afternoon.

However, exits are the order of the day and a cluster of first-teamers have already or are about to leave on loan.

Giovano Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele both left via that route to Villarreal and Napoli respectively.

Bryan Gil is wanted by Valencia on loan, while Pape Matar Sarr has suitors in Italy.

Another player wanted by a Serie A side is midfield outcast, Harry Winks.

The 26-year-old was among a quartet of Tottenham stars to train away from the core group in pre-season. Ndombele, Lo Celso and Sergio Reguilon were the others.

Sampdoria and Roma emerged as potential landing spots with a loan move mooted. However, Gianluca Di Marzio reported Winks favoured remaining in England.

But with little interest emerging and the clock ticking, Winks has finally relented.

Fabrizio Romano tweeted Winks has accepted his proposed loan switch to Sampdoria. A deal between Tottenham and the Italian side has been agreed and barring any late hiccups, the move will cross the line over the coming days.

Reguilon exit path closes?

Left-back Reguilon is another on the chopping block following the arrival of Ivan Perisic. The veteran Croatian will battle for minutes with Ryan Sessegnon at wing-back, leaving Reguilon as the odd man out.

Nottingham Forest had registered their interest in the Spaniard after Omar Richards suffered a hairline leg fracture.

A loan move was mooted by the Athletic who claimed preliminary talks had taken place.

However, news on that front subsequently went quiet, with Atletico Madrid’s Renan Lodi later moving into Steve Cooper’s sights.

That move looked ambitious at first, though according to Romano, Atletico are ‘changing their position’.

He tweeted Diego Simeone’s side are now ‘open’ to letting the Brazilian leave – providing they receive a suitable loan offer.

That would indicate they may want a loan fee as well as Lodi’s wages subsidising. Regardless, Forest’s interest in Lodi was reaffirmed by Romano, and if pursued, Reguilon would no longer be required by Forest.

Any other takers for Reguilon?

With Sessegnon getting better each week and Perisic nearing full fitness, Reguilon’s chances of game-time this season look bleak.

What’s more, Tottenham are back in the Champions League and that is not a competition you can navigate by fielding your fringe players.

As such, it makes little sense for Reguilon to remain in north London, and a move to Italy could be an option.

Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio are a contender for his signature, while the Daily Mail claimed a cross-London switch to Fulham could be viable.

Marco Silva’s side have reportedly opened talks with Spurs, though they also like PSG’s Layvin Kutrzawa.
