Manchester United left-back Alvaro Fernandez looks set to leave Old Trafford to join Spanish side Granada, according to reports.

The Red Devil’s have a shortage in the left-back position at the moment, with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia both sidelined with injuries.

It seems, however, that Erik ten Hag doesn’t see Fernandez as the solution, as the manager is willing to let him leave this summer.

The 20-year-old enjoyed a good loan spell with Championship side Preston North End last season. There, he made 42 appearances in all competitions, contributing six assists in the process.

Now, the Spain under-19s international is seemingly heading back to his homeland. According to MarcaFernandez is ‘waiting patiently’ to join Granada, with an agreement between them and Man Utd described as ‘close.’

The report doesn’t state whether the move will be on loan or permanent, but it is likely to be a loan as Man Utd consider the defender to be a top prospect.

A switch to LaLiga will undoubtedly be a step up for Fernandez, so it will be interesting to see how he progresses this season, if the move goes ahead as expected.

Man Utd push to sign Sergio Reguilon

Man Utd are still desperate to bring in a new left-back before the transfer window slams shut on Friday, and Ten Hag has several players on his shortlist.

The manager’s top target is Lyon star Nicolas Tagliafico. The 31-year-old is won the World Cup with Argentina last year and is considered to be one of the best left-backs in France.

However, as reported by TEAMtalk, Lyon have blocked Man Utd’s approach for Tagliafico, despite the player being keen on joining them.

As a result, Ten Hag has been forced to focus on alternative’s and the manager’s next priority is Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilon.

According to reputed transfer journalist David Ornstein, the Red Devils are pushing to sign the Spain international after a move for Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella has stalled.

On TwitterOrnstein wrote: “Man Utd seriously considering signing Sergio Reguilon on loan from Tottenham. Cucurella still in play but complicated by Chelsea appearance last night. Man Utd to decide for football + financial reasons amid Amrabat pursuit.

With that in mind, Reguilon is definitely a player for Man Utd fans to keep an eye on over the next 24 hours or so.
