Tottenham transfer news: Another Serie A deal takes shape after three moves combine to spark perfect storm
Tottenham have found a suitor who are ‘pressing constantly’ to sign Sergio Reguilon after three deals combined to pave the way, per a report.
Reguilon, 25, was among a quartet of Spurs stars who trained away from the first-team group throughout pre-season. Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso and Harry Winks were the others. Ndombele and Lo Celso have both since departed via the loan route to Napoli and Villarreal respectively.
Winks is a target for Serie A sides Sampdoria and Roma. A reunion with Jose Mourinho could be on the cards in the Italian capital, though the midfielder has other ideas in mind.
Regarding Reguilon, links to both Spanish and Italian sides have come and gone. However, according to Corriere dello Sport, a credible exit route has finally opened up.
Via Sport Witness, they state Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio are pushing to sign the left-back.
Lazio are pushing for a loan with an option to buy, s structure that is just fine with Spurs chief Fabio Paratici.
Reguilon wants regular game time in the coming months to ensure he is in the mix for Argentina at the Qatar World Cup.
Three transfers spark perfect Reguilon storm
Ivan Perisic’s arrival has ensured he’s unlikely to get his wish in north London, and two other moves have helped rouse Lazio’s interest.
It’s noted the Serie A side had initially targeted Emerson Palmieri and Destiny Udogie. Emerson recently joined West Ham from Chelsea in a move totalling £15m. Udogie, ironically enough, joined Tottenham before being loaned back to Udinese.
That’s opened the door for Reguilon and Sarri is the driving factor behind Lazio’s pursuit. Indeed, he’s described as ‘pressing constantly’ for the move.
His club president, Claudio Lotito, isn’t as convinced by Reguilon, meaning Sarri has some convincing to do.
Regardless, a move is certainly there for the making if Sarri gets his way. And given Conte signed Perisic to compete with Ryan Sessegnon at left wing-back, Reguilon clearly has no future at Tottenham.
More Tottenham exits in the pipeline
Another loan exit could be on the cards, this time for Bryan Gil.
The Spanish winger is wanted by Valencia after they were suitably impressed with his six-month loan last term.
A season-long affair is close to being agreed, though an option or obligation to buy isn’t expected.
That suggests Tottenham stil believe Gil can prove his worth in north London in the future. Either that, or they’re hoping his value swells through a successful loan stint ahead of a future sale.
Midfielder Pape Matar Sarr is on the subject of loan discussions. The 19-year-old midfielder Sarr has interest from multiple Italian sides.
Sarr joined Tottenham from Metz last summer before being loaned back to France for a year. Another loan exit is on the cards this time around.
