Tottenham star set for Man Utd medical after Postecoglou sanctions exit of Ten Hag target
Tottenham have reportedly given Sergio Reguilon permission to undertake a medical with Manchester United ahead of a potential season-long loan.
Erik ten Hag is scrambling to bring in a new left-back, with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia currently sidelined with injuries.
A number of names have been discussed by the Man Utd hierarchy. Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella was one player that they looked at, but his appearance in the League Cup on Wednesday has complicated the deal.
Lyon star Nicolas Tagliafico is another player Man Utd have been linked with in the last couple of days, but the French side have blocked the Red Devil’s approach for him.
It now seems that Man Utd have settled on Reguilon as their preferred left-back target, with a deal close to completion.
The Spaniard spent last season on loan with Atletico Madrid and doesn’t appear to be in Ange Postecoglou’s long-term plans.
A move to Man Utd could give Reguilon the opportunity he needs to reignite his Premier League career, and will be given plenty of minutes considering the injury problems Ten Hag faces at the moment.

Reguilon set for Man Utd medical
According to reputed transfer journalist David Ornstein, Reguilon is set to have his Man Utd medical imminently.
On Twitter, Ornstein wrote: “Man Utd working to complete loan signing of Sergio Reguilon from Tottenham.
“The 26-year-old left-back has been granted permission by Tottenham to travel for medical. Man Utd have shifted from Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella & also aim to recruit Sofyan Amrabat.”
It’s reported that Man Utd prefer a loan deal for Reguilon due to Financial Fair Play issues. That was also the reason why they tried to sign Sofyan Amrabat on loan, an offer which Fiorentina rejected.
The pending deal for Reguilon is certainly a positive for Man Utd, though. He signed for Tottenham 2020, he has made 67 appearances for the London side, scoring two goals and making nine assists.
He is known to be a threat going forward, but has often been criticised for his defensive performances. Man Utd will hope that side of his game will improve at Old Trafford.
Barring any late twists, Reguilon appears set to join Man Utd on loan. Whether any option or obligation to buy will be included in the deal remains to be seen.
