Transfer Gossip: Man Utd move big step closer to key signing, but £5m concern blocks move; Tottenham star agrees exit

Martin Dubravka, Slovakia v Hungary March 2019

Manchester United have moved closer to a key signing but a £5million stumbling block still remains, while a Tottenham star is set to leave –  both in all the latest Transfer Gossip.

MAN UTD CLOSE TO MARTIN DUBRAVKA

Manchester United have agreed personal terms with Martin Dubravka, but the structure of a deal with Newcastle reportedly remains a concern.

The Red Devils remain busy on the incomings front as the summer transfer window reaches its final stretch. Talks are ongoing over a deal for Ajax star Antony, while manager Erik ten Hag also wants a new right-back.

Ten Hag has furthermore been chasing a back-up goalkeeper to challenge David de Gea and Tom Heaton.

Targets such as Kevin Trapp and Yann Sommer have come and gone, with Slovakia international Dubravka the new top target.

And according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the 33-year-old and Man Utd have agreed personal terms.

However, while United want a loan deal with a £5million option to buy based on performances, Newcastle want him gone permanently – or at least on an obligation to buy.

As such, Sky Sports adds that Dubravka has turned the screw on the Magpies by asking them if he can leave.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe insisted in his press conference on Friday that he feels “reluctant” to let Dubravka go. The 29-cap Slovakian has dropped to No 2 in the pecking order following Nick Pope’s arrival from Burnley.

Even then, he did not make the Newcastle squad for Wednesday’s Carabao Cup win over Tranmere Rovers.

Dubravka has played 130 games for Newcastle – 127 in the Premier League – with his 37 clean sheets all coming in the top flight.

SERGIO REGUILON AGREES TOTTENHAM EXIT

Tottenham have reportedly agreed a loan deal with Atletico Madrid for left-back Sergio Reguilon until the end of the season.

The Spaniard has become frozen out under Antonio Conte following the arrival of new signing Ivan Perisic. With Ryan Sessegnon also impressing, Reguilon did not make the pre-season tour squad.

As such, Tottenham have been open to letting him go – and they were not short of interest.

According to Football Insider, though, it is Atletico who are now closing in on the signing of the 25-year-old.

Indeed, a medical has now been booked with Reguilon tempted by the offer of Champions League football. The former Real Madrid and Sevilla man is also returning to the Spanish capital.

Serie A side Lazio, who are in the Europa League, came up with the first proposal for Reguilon. They offered an option to buy too, which none of the other interested sides have tabled.

Premier League side Fulham then held talks with Tottenham about giving Reguilon another chance to prove himself in the English top flight.

In the end, though, Atletico have turned the left-back’s head and the Spaniard is to return to familiar pastures.

TRANSFER GOSSIP – WEST HAM TO MAKE NEW VANAKEN BID

Club Brugge captain Hans Vanaken will soon become the subject of a third West Ham bid, a report says.

The Hammers have added to their defence and attack this summer, with deals for the likes of Thilo Kehrer and Gianluca Scamacca.

As such, midfield is the priority for manager David Moyes. With Lyon’s Lucas Paqueta close to moving to the London Stadium, Moyes also wants Vanaken.

West Ham have already made two bids for the star, with £11million – including £1.6million in add-ons – their best offer.

According to the Daily Mail, though, West Ham are determined to get their man and are planning a third bid.

The newspaper does not detail the size of the increased proposal but claims that the Hammers hope it will be enough to convince Brugge to sell up.

Vanaken has played in each of Brugge’s league games so far this season.
